Author

Penny is a retired educator with over 34 years of experience teaching middle school social studies and language arts with a BA in elementary education, an MA in Middle School Education and was National Board Certified in Early Adolescent English/Language Arts. Her writing has appeared in the children's magazine, Appleseeds and the former weekly newspaper, The Iredell Citizen. Working with North Carolina State University, she developed ancillary materials for a seventh grade social studies textbook and facilitated workshops on integrating reading and writing and activity based learning in social studies. She has been an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international organization for female educators for many years. She is also a Lay Servant/Speaker through the United Methodist Church.

She and her husband live on Rocky Ridge Farm in Northern Iredell County, North Carolina, where they raised their three sons. Penny enjoys working in her vineyard, garden, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Her children’s books include Forest Friends Series: Mushroom’s Day Away, Frog’s Lily Pad, and Turtle’s Troubled Day.

Illustrator

Krystal is a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer. She works currently as a graphic designer for Wisdom House Books in Chapel Hill, NC where she designs and illustrates books of various genres. She is a 2016 graduate from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, Maryland, with a BFA in Illustration. Krystal is also the recipient of several awards, including a Society of Illustrators scholarship in 2016.
